Announcement of winners of the 2019 (The 13th) Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers (Japan Award) and the Award Ceremony

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) has decided this year's winners of the Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers (Japan Award). The award ceremony will be held on November 26th, 2019 at Tsukuba International Conference Hall, Ibaraki, Japan. The ceremony is open to the public. Cameras are permitted.

1. Overview

This annual award started in 2007, and is organized by the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Council (AFFRC), MAFF, Japan. Its purpose is to increase motivation among young researchers contributing to research and development in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and related industries in developing regions. Up to three young researchers who showed outstanding performance and research achievements that might lead to future innovation are commended with the award.

The winners will be bestowed a testimonial by the Chairman of the AFFRC during the commendation ceremony and will also receive a cash prize of US$5,000 (MOTAI-JIRCAS Award*).

* Mr. Shigeru MOTAI is a former Chairman of the AFFRC and the donor of this award. This award is supported by the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS).

Registration deadline is Monday, November 18th, 2019 at 17:00.

5. To The Press

Please register online at JIRCAS's website. The procedure is the same as "4.Registration".
We will prepare seats for the press, but the number of these dedicated seats is limited.  If the seats are full, kindly take the same seats as other guests (unreserved seats).

6. Others

JIRCAS International Symposium 2019 "International research collaboration to tackle transboundary plant pests: Contributions to Sustainable Development Goals" will be held on the same date at the same venue.
